It's All In A Day's Work

In the 1800s, most Maori lived in a village called "Pa." Each village had many buildings where people cooked pataka. (Pataka means where you store food like: fish and birds. There is also a place where trapdoors are placed in the floor so nothing comes and eats it, like Pacific rats.)

The wharepuni doesn't match my home because my home is not a sleeping house or a principal house of a village.

  1. Hey Aden,

I like how you've explained the activity you're doing before you post your answer to the activity because it means your readers know what you are blogging about in your post :)

A wharepuni is quite different to most homes and are built for a different purpose. But looking at the picture of the wharepuni, do you notice any similarities to your house? You could also google pictures of other wharepuni's to get a better idea of what they look like to be able to compare them.

Make sure you do your best to answer the activity questions in as much detail as you can Aden so we can give you the full points for each activity you complete :)

    Keep it up!

    Nicky :)

  4. Hi Aden
Great job on completing this activity, I like how you explained what you had to do really well. I have a question though, how else are your house and a traditional Maori house different?
