Describing Roald Dahl

My learning intention is to describe the author and research about Roald Dahl.


I described the author in a list of ten and went to the official Roald Dahl Website for more detail about him.

I found out that Roald Dahl can illustrate too and be a author at the sametime. Roald Dahl also had a mum and dad. The dad’s name was Harald and the mum’s name was Sophie.

Matariki


My learning intention is to know what Matariki is and how Maori people celebrate the new year.

I learned that Matariki is a celebration that mostly maori people celebrate and it is also a celebration for the new year.  

Matariki has seven sisters and their names are Matariki, Ururangi, Tupua-Rangi, Waititi, Waita, Tupu-Nuku, Wai-Puna-a-Rangi. Are the seven sisters. Matariki is the mother of the six sisters but some stories say that Matariki is the oldest sister, some say that she is the mother.

Smart Commenting

My learning intention is to know how to comment on other people's blogs.

I learned how to comment on Mary-Jane’s blog from Tamaki Primary school in room ten. I commented on Mary-Jane’s blog using a greeting, connection, question, and motivational scentace.

I learned by using four ideas for commenting. Greeting means you say a “Hello” or a different language “Hello” Connection means when you connect to their story so for example if they are writing about a dog you will make a connection like you have a dog too. A question means you ask a question about their story like. Did you quit the trip? Or did you quit cooking because you burned your hand? A  motivational sentence means when you say “Great job!” or “Keep up the good work”

Describing Matilda

My learning intention is to know how to describe a character.

I learned how to describe Matilda in a list of ten and describing how smart she is and how much knowledge she knows. Matilda has many different personalities some being she is the nicest person and smartest.

I had to put in a picture of Matilda so people know i'm describing Matilda. Matilda never stops reading either she just keeps on reading. Her parents hate it when she reads too. It can also be hard to describe Matilda because she doesn’t have too many personalities.

Maths Strategys

My learning intention is to learn how to use four strategies with and without the structure.

I learned how to do four strategies without and with the structure and know how they work.

If I had a place value house I would say that 500+155=655 I would have the correct answer. I did another answer to get the right answer to the question. I would do the number line the same way but add a bit more numbers to it. If i added more numbers then I could've gotten the wrong answer but I added the right amount of numbers. So I got the correct answer. The same things go along without the structure so without the number line and without the place value house.  


Commenting on my partner's narrative

My learning intention is to know how to investigate through my partner’s story and comment on the mistakes they made.

I learned how to comment on my partner’s story and see the mistakes they had made. If they made any mistakes then I will have to comment about them so they can go back and fix it.

I learned that if someone else comments on your story it can help you a lot. Therfore the next time you make a story you will remember that you have to check it before doing anything else.

Comparing and contrasting a pencil and a Chromebook

My learning intention is to know how to compare and contrast a piece of technology and a technological system.

I compared and contrasted a pencil and a Chromebook together and figured out how similar they both are. A compare and contrast is something that you use to figure out how similar one object is to another.

I found out that a pencil is similar to a Chromebook because they can both write and you can write letter to each other on both objects.

Words i don’t know

My learning intention is to know five words that i didn’t understand but now do by searching it up.

In this subject of reading I found ten words i didn’t know and pick five words form the ten search it up then write down the meaning of the word.

I chose ten words that i didn’t know in the book “Matilda”. I picked five that I didn’t understand and looked it up. I find out the meaning of each five words and explained the meaning.



Subtraction

My learning intention is to know how subtraction works.

I learned how to use subtraction in 3 different ways, using number line, place value house, and algorithm. Number lines is easy to use, when you are pulsing it is much more easier but if you are subtracting then it is a bit more harder. If you use some subtracting ideas then you might have a chance of completing it within seconds.


I learned by subtracting numbers, i had to move numbers around in the place value house to find the answer. In the algorithm i had to subtract numbers and subtract the right amount of numbers. In number line i had to subtract the right amount of numbers so it wont go over the answer.

Piece of technology and systems of technology


My learning intention is to know what a piece of technology is and what a technological system is.


I learned that a piece of technology is something that makes your life easier and simple to use. A technological system is something that is a bit harder to use and makes your life go slower.

A technological system runs on electricity so it will take sometime for the electricity to come around. These seven items run on electricity: a toaster, popcorn maker, a fridge, kettle, oven, microwave, and a presser.

Narrative Planning

My learning intention is to know how to plan a narrative and what a narrative is.


I learned that making narratives is very fun and useful, narratives is a made up story so it is not true. Narratives can have certain characters, you can have many characters or less characters. You can have a plan and a when. In narrative planning a “when” is something when you can set the time for your story. “Like one dark stormy day”.

A setting is something that you set where the world your characters are going to live in. Like “they lived in a world made out of lollipops”.  

Place Value


My learning intention is to know how to use a number line and know how to use a place value house and how to break up numbers to find the answer.

I learned that when you break up numbers it is really easy to find the answer, breaking up number also includes place value, so you have to make sure the numbers are in the right column.

I learned that when you use number lines it can help you in many different situations. Like trying to figure out an answer, or trying to find out an answer to place value. Number lines can be very useful for many things, and can be very helpful for you in the future
